Round the Yard

Chickens have grown up...but egg production is patchy. Combination of broodiness and malting has resulted in us having to buy eggs from the shop!

Tomatoes and beans are flourishing. Might have to make passata as we can't consume the tomatoes at their current rate of production!

Intruder in the veggie patch! What I thought was beans has turned into fast growing weed which I think it is Morning Glory. Took a bit of patience to detangle the vine from the rest of the veggies.

Katy's Capers

Katy's futsal team finished the season 6th on the ladder after playing the final few games without their full team due to covid striking! I have a feeling that this may be her last futsal game having not completely enjoying the games each week.

Katy continues to enjoy being a vegetarian. Our meals are becoming increasingly a two pot affair as seen below with a butter chicken and vegetable dahl curries.

She created this mixed media picture the other day, combining painting with some embroidery.

Garden Produce

The tomatoes have started to ripen. I have a variety of plants - yellow grape, red cherry and small Roma tomatoes. The beans continue to flourish and I picked the last of the red cabbages. I had a small harvest of plums.

Sadly though, I stuffed up the harvesting of the nectarines - they were too hard in early Jan. By the time I got around to harvesting them in late January, the rain had turned them to mould on the tree! So disappointing!

Random Bits

Ella has been concentrating on throwing in athletics. This new interest means we go to little aths Saturday mornings for a few hours where both girls compete. Then in the late afternoon until early evening we take Ella to senior athletics where she usually competes in the 2 scheduled throwing events. This also involves one of us volunteering to help out - collecting javelins, discuses or shot put are our normal role however we have had to do the wind recording for long jump on several occasions! So much more serious than little aths in the mornings!!

Indi had a play date at the local dog park with friends - Leo, Echo and Cooper (not in photo as he was off trying to play ball with others!). She also had a trim.

We all enjoyed watching the Muster Dogs series on ABC.
