GRADUATION!!!
Another milestone in our lives arrived - Ella graduated from Primary School!! We attended the whole school assembly that recognised and celebrated this important day for the Year 6 students! Mrs Alexander led the school singing her adapted Year 6 graduation version of the Everly Brothers All I have to do is Dream. It was beautiful. We are so proud of Ella and all that she has done at Aranda. It's been a fantastic school and we know she has throughly enjoyed her time there. The next chapter of her life begins in 2020 at Canberra High School!
Graduation Dinner and Dance
Graduation day also involved a Graduation dinner and disco held at the Raiders Club in Kippax.
In the weeks leading up to the night, Ella's group of friends compared notes on their outfits. In one of these discussions, Ella and a friend realised that they had chosen the same dress! Obviously good taste!
Despite our reassurances that it didn't matter, Ella was on the lookout for a replacement. It was while we were in Adelaide that she hit the jackpot. One afternoon we decided to check out the op shop across the road from where we were staying. In it Ella found a beautiful lace blue dress which was on sale for $5!! Back in Canberra, we got the dress altered which cost way more than the initial purchase! All up Ella was really happy with her outfit.
By all accounts, fun was had by all including the teachers!

Big Business
The Year 4 cohort this term had a collaborative project called Big Business. The concept - Big Business was a mall and each pair or small group within the class had a business to run within it.Katy paired up with Mira and they opened a shop called Freedom Run - a sports shop of course! Designing a logo, creating stock inventories were all part of the project. Students then earnt big bucks ($$) by completing work, being on task, helping others..... With these big bucks, the girls could do business with others! Letters were posted thought the post office and replies sent. It seems Katy and Mira were quite good at this as they received a certificate for demonstrating the best correspondence!! Super work girls!!

Netball Wrap Up
The Thursday afternoon school netball competition concluded in week 9. Both teams were ranked 3rd on the ladder and so played 4th in the finals. Katy's team drew 6 all in a great game, while Ella's team played agains the Aranda Yr 5's in a lopsided match with the Yr 6's triumphing over the younger team. Both girls throughly enjoyed this competition.

Seeing Red
Produce from the garden...

An early harvest with the potatoes as the leaves had wilted and died. Based on their size, one might call these baby potatoes, I think a lack of water combined with the warmer weather may have been the issue. Despite this they made a great potato salad!
Don't tell anyone in my household, but most of the raspberries don't actually make it inside... I find myself nibbling them straight off the bush while watering the veggie patch - delicious!
