Preschool with Katy

Crimson magnetics have been having a busy term. There was a pj and pancake day early on. Next was book week in which Katy dressed up as a witch - specifically the witch from Room on the Broom. Unfortunately being a friday, I was in my usual rush trying to get to work on time and forgot to take a photo.

Next was a school wide competition called Just 50 Words. We were a little familiar with this from Ella's involvement last year. Basically each student had 50 words in which to write their own story. Now Ella had a few insomniac nights stressing about what she was going to write and hoping that her story would be picked as a year 1 finalist.

Ella's story sounded very much like a version of Alice in Wonderland (the girls had watched the movie with Grandpa recently) and didn't make the cut. However we received a letter informing us that Katy's story had been chosen as a finalist for preschool with the winner being announced at a school wide assembly.

Andy took Katy to the assembly. The four finalists from each year had their stories read before the runner up and winner were announced. Anyway much to our surprise Katy was the winner for preschool! She had already freaked out being at assembly with all the big kids and when her name was announced as the winner for preschool there was no way she was letting go of Andy's hand! So Andy walked with her up so she could receive her prize a big bag of goodies (stationary, reading lamp and $40 dymock voucher!) and certificate. Big sister Ella was VERY excited for her too :)

We were wondering how the preschoolers write their story. Turns out they dictated it to one of the teachers and then drew a picture. Katy' story - Wombat is sad because all the trees are falling down. The trees fell down because of the fire burnt them. Wombat dug a hole so he would be safe from the fire.
