Wet Wallaga Lakes

Approaching Cooma we realised that we were too early for a lunch stop at our regular spot - The Lot, so we skirted around the edge of town aiming for the Nimmitabel bakery instead. Here it was a quick bite to eat before setting off again towards Brown Mountain, where the weather began to close in and set the scene for what was install for us for the next 5 days...

Once hitting the Princess Highway, we turned north for the final leg of the drive. Wallace Lake situated about 10km north of Bermagui. The girls were beginning to get restless as we negotiated this section and we were glad to finally pull into the driveway of the holiday house 45 minutes later.

With views over the lake entrance to the east,  Mt Dromedary and Little Dromedary to the north, we were pleasantly surprised with Rob's find! Further exploration of the house revealed a room on the first floor large enough to fit in all the children!

Once the inevitable and tiring unpacking was complete, the boys headed off for a run, while Al and I took the kids down to explore. All kitted up in warm gear we found a little track at the bottom of the garden which led us to the waters edge and a little further along a playground and boardwalk. Despite the coolish conditions it didn't take long to go from this.....

to this!!

Max was the only sensible one not to strip off and plunge in. With the kids now in the water and disappearing to the other side of the sandbar, Al and I thought it may be wise to follow. Luckily for us we were able to wade across and with the water coming up to our knees thus not getting too wet. Twas good to get out and for the kids to expend some energy after the drive. It wasn't long before lips began to turn blue, goosebumps appeared then it was a quick dash home for a warm shower, climb into some pj sand enjoy hot chocolates! A great start to our mini break!
