Cooking for the Cousins

Sunday afternoon at Guthega saw a mass adult exodus from the lodge with only ourselves plus Nana and Grandpa remaining with all the cousins. As a result it was suggested that cousins from each family cook a dinner with Nana's assistance. Seeing though Andy and I were still there, we gave Nana a night off and helped our girls prepare a feast for the others.

Katy began with late afternoon tea - Joulutorttu - Finnish Christmas Tarts. We had to substitute the traditional prune jam filling for blackcurrant or strawberry jam. The tarts were not only easy to create but also delicious to eat!

Meanwhile, Ella was busy making gyozas, Japanese dumplings as entree. These little beauties are also so easy to make and cook and were devoured quickly.

As for the rest of the dinner, it was a simple one consisting of chicken schnitzel, smashed potatoes and vegies.
