It's been a warm summer....and we have resorted to swimming in Lake Burley Griffin at the pontoon bay in Weston Park. A small bay on the east side of the peninsula which is very pleasant on hot afternoons. We often pack a picnic, use the BBQ facilities or occasionally have fish'n'chips for an easy dinner and convince friends to join us. Although it's not the beach, it's all very relaxing and refreshing!
The other option is the river - Uriarra Crossing a short 20 min drive towards the Brindabellas. The timing in both trips has been unfortunate with intense thunderstorms quickly developing. Luckily in the most recent trip, we drove through the windy front and hit the downpour at the carpark! We proceeded to have a car picnic dinner while waiting for the heavy rain to ease and the flash flooding to pass which it did leaving for another pleasant swim!
