Tuross Falls

After packing up our campsite we decided on walking the other track to Tuross Falls, a 4km return trip. Early on the sandy track weaved amongst impressive boulders... all worthy of climbing. From here the track undulated through the open forest crossing several gullies. Lots of interesting flora but not much in the way of wildlife to see. The groups splintered as the kids moods swung and so did their enthusiasm for walking!

Finally we descended a set of stairs to reach the viewing platform. In the distance were the impressiveTuross Falls, tumbling 40m into the gorge below.  Apparently this area is a good for family canyoning - a possible future trip? The kids were extremely disappointed not to be able to explore and rock hop around the falls and lollies did little to boost their subdued outlook!

On the way back, Andy and Rob detoured off track after spotting a huge granite slab. A little bit of bush bashing was required to get to the said rock. Cartwheels were the dance of celebration along with adding a few more rocks to to the existing rock cairn.

Back on the walking track, any excuse to venture back off track was taken keeping the kids minds off the actual boringness of walking! By the time we arrived at the cars the weather was warming up nicely. We had taken longer than we had thought so we wasted no time in driving back to Canberra via a quick bite to eat in Breadbo. Another great adventure was had!
