Losing Bijou

Returning from our skiing trip, it was back into the usual school / work / sporting activities..... except that Katy got sick so missed a few days of school.

Unfortunately on Katy's second sick day, Ella woke up to find Bijou, her beloved budgie had died overnight. She was so devastated. The night before Bijou hd been super interactive and cuddly and Ella had been immensely impressed with him.

After pouring out her grief for losing Bijou, we found a nice spot under the magnolia tree to bury him. Ella decided that going to school would be a good distraction and so I dropped her off mid morning.

Katy had perked up a little by the time I returned and we made a photo collage dedicated to Bijou and placed it on Ella's bedside table.

It's a difficult path in life losing your first pet and we hadn't realised how much of an impact this beautiful little blue bird had made on Ella in the 4 months she had had him. She survived the day at school and returned home once again bursting into tears at the sight of Bijou's grave.
