Wedgetail Highway

From Wooramel we continued our journey north with a 3.5 hour drive to Coral Bay.  As for wildlife on the road, we had not encountered much - a mallee fowl and 3 goats is all we had to slow down for. However on this stretch of driving from Wooramel to Carnarvon we lost count of the number of Wedgetail eagles soaring above us. We thought this section should be renamed Wedgetail Highway. It was a quick stop in Carnarvon to fill up the car and grab some morning snacks.

Traffic on the road seemed to be mostly heading south until we turned off on to the Minilya - Exmouth road. The sun was hot and the temperature in the high 20's - great for an afternoon dip.

Coral Bay, is a tiny town with the biggest (300+ sites) caravan park we'd ever seen and to our surprise it was jammed packed. Our site was #241 and unfortunately located next to the BBQ, kitchen sink and ablution block so we had lots of through foot traffic.

Girls were fairly grumpy, so instead of unpacking Andy and I went in search of coffee. Post coffee we grabbed our snorkelling gear, Katy’s GoPro and walked the short distance to Billy's Beach. The water was crystal clear and an abundance of marine life could be seen withou much effort.

Now all cooled off and refreshed we returned to our campsite in order to organise dinner which required a quick trip over to the supermarket. We made the most of our camp location and had BBQ for dinner.
