Pointy Hills Beckon

Another day and another run. This time with the dogs, heading north around the bay before detouring into the Tomaree National Park. Our eyes were vaguely set on Stephens Peak - a very distinct triangular pointy hill. Plans were foiled by a work call that Cath had to take during our run. At that point however, Andy caught us and we left Cath to her phone meeting and continued on a few hundred metres with the dogs to where the turn off was. I bid Andy good luck as I turned around with both dogs to find Cath.

He did make it to the top - a mere 300m with 50 m climb. Had I known that it wasn't that far, I would have continued but the track conditions were unknown. Next time! Cath and I ambled back retracing our steps and stopping for coffee.

Back home, it was decided that a trip to the doggy beach was on the cards. We drove a short distance to Bagnalls Beach on the northern side of Nelson Bay. WIth baited breath we let the dogs off. Indi was straight into run as fast as possible mode with Leo trying to keep up. The girls coaxed Indi into the water and she was more than happy to paddle around before returning to the shore for a shake down and a running race!

The smells of the dunes however were way more exciting and with her head down Indi was off chasing ...something. She disappeared into the scrub with Leo following. Despite calling her name, Leo would return but Indi took much longer to decide to come back (something to work on). It was all a little stressful really given we couldn't see where she had gone and that there was a road not too far behind the dunes. Eventually we hooked her back up on the lead, walked back to the car and dried her off.

A stop in Nelson Bay was requested. The girls wanted to do a spot of shopping, supplies were purchased and coffee had. Afternoon activities were discussed and decided upon - everyone minus Cath who had another meeting was up for a surf!

Conditions were colder than yesterday and the waves not much better. Anyway it was good to get out and into the ocean and fresh air!
