Renos - Day 81

And we are back in after 9 weeks with Andy's parents.

Perfect timing too as we had a few hours spare to 'organise' ourselves for the arrival of our first visitors!!! Cath, Eoin and Aoife joined us for a sleep over (they were en route to the snow.) As there was very limited food supply, we bought Turkish pizza for dinner. Despite the heater now officially broken (there some more money walking out the door!) and the wood stove not connected, we had enough electric fans pumping out heat to keep warm!

Renos - Day 79

Electrician was in today hanging the pendants and finishing off little jobs.
We also began the process of moving stuff (2 carloads) from Andy's parents house but still waiting for toilets to be connected!!

Reno - Day 77

How amazing do the floors look? Managed to give the bathrooms another coat of paint before Andy arrived home at midday to begin moving furniture back into the house. We are still waiting for the sewage to be connected...

Weekend Work

With the house being off limits thanks to the final coat going on the timber floor, we were restricted to finding outside jobs to complete. This wasn't really an issue cause the to-do-list is at least a mile long and continues to grow! Luckily for us the weather was kind and almost warmish!

First on the list was the tree root! Initially before the tree stump was removed we thought it would make a good random focal point in the garden. However once out of the ground we saw the root ball was mostly a conglomerate of small roots and clay.

The rather large trunk would however be useful for the fire, it was just a matter of how we could cut it. Without a chainsaw it was down to the good ole timber saw and elbow grease. Andy and I had a great time tackling this challenge and it was very rewarding when we finally made it through!

Next task was painting the weatherboard cladding. Beginning with patching followed by 2 coats of paint. Lovely to see the contrast between the timber window frames and the paint.

Of course while we were completing these projects, the girls were engaged in their own fun making butterfly prints also involving paint!

Back to Blogging

A slightly enforced prolonged hiatus due to my computer giving up the ghost. It has taken awhile to obtain a new one and transfer everything across. So what has happened in the past 6 weeks....lots!!

The girls have continued playing and enjoying soccer. Ella came super close to scoring her first goal and coincidentally I was in the right place to snap a few photos including the said shot!

School Happenings

Katy class joined forces with one of the other kindy classes to host the junior assembly today. As expected there has been much excitement all week! In keeping with their inquiry unit on the Olden days the assembly showed photos of the children faces superimposed to old photos which was very funny. Andy and Nana enjoyed watching the performance and commented that Katy spoke her line very well.

As I am now working on Friday's, Nana has been the stand in for assembly attendance.  Last week Nana attend the school assembly to watch Ella receive her SRC badge as she was elected as the school representative council for her class for the second half of the year. Ella was very excited as this and will be a wonderful opportunity for her.

Renos - Day 67 - 76

Painfully slow going due to sad circumstances - both the plumber and timber man have lost parent / parent in law in consecutive weeks.

Kitchen bench and drawers are in.

The timber flooring has now been laid.

Vanities, toilets and tapware have been installed. Just waiting for it to be connected to the sewage system. Love the plumbers sign on the toilets (not connected u flush it gush then u clean)!! Yep think I get the message!

Another weekend of painting for us. Only on Sunday though as Paul was still laying the floor on Saturday. We focussed on the bathrooms and laundry. Both bathrooms got the ceiling done twice and the walls once while the laundry only got one coat on the ceiling. The girls made their own couch out of pillows. Ella was content to lounge around as she wasn't very well meanwhile Katy disappeared next-door for a playdate with Sofia.

The house has been bare and off limits since Tuesday with the floors being sanded and having two of the three finishing coats applied. Final coat is to be apply on Sunday and fingers crossed we will be moving back in towards the end of next week before we head off skiing for a week!!
