Indi Update

The first few days have gone relatively smoothly with our new fluffy bundle. She didn't make a peep of sound on her first night - quite unexpected!

She's been to Bunnings, had lots of cuddles, met Fuji and disappeared!!!

Welcome Indi

It was a novelty to skip home schooling and work and drive the 75 mins northwest through Yass to Binalong to pick up our new puppy. She was playing in the sunshine with her chocolate brother. The other four puppies in her litter had already gone to their new homes. Her mum, Chance was nearby as to was another border collie, Floss who was looking remarkable for 14yrs!

Indi was so small and fluffy. She quickly fell asleep on the drive home. Both girls were desperate to cuddle her.

Back home Indi was very timid and nervous with her new environment. Every noise startled her. The wooden floor took some time to master!! We've borrowed a crate from a friend for Indi to sleep in - apparently it's the done thing with puppies these days. Fingers crossed I get some sleep tonight!!

She's Coming

It's a funny world at the moment - home schooling and working from home (most of us). The house is different with Andy and the girls at home full time and there is the hole that Pippa left behind. Inevitably the topic of a new puppy was raised. With so much uncertainty of how long this isolation will last, perhaps it was a good time to welcome a new family member into our lives.

Discussions were had regarding the breeds best suited to our family and we stumbled across the Bordoodle - a border collie crossed with a miniature poodle. A bit more investigating revealed a breeder nearby and then we discovered two families we knew who had used this breeder. An email was sent...

We waited...

and waited...

sent another email and waited.

Finally after 3 weeks, we called and we were in luck!  There was a 6 week old female who had become available as the previous buyer had backed out.

Here were the photos that we received of the puppy -

What a cutie! How could we resist? A few phone calls later and a holding deposit and she was ours!

Pick up would be in two weeks time. Now the fun begins with picking a name....

Campbell Caching Expedition

Route choice organised by Aoife with the aim of dropping a trackable off at a cache in ADFA. Another stunning afternoon! We began with the first cache requiring a little bit of tree climbing which actually set the scene for the afternoon - turns out 5 out of the 13 were up in trees!

Our group became separated on the way to the second cache but eventually found each other again at the cache! This one proved to be a tricky one. We had given up when it was spotted high up amongst the branches. A brave Ella Walked the Plank (name of the cache) so we could log this as a find!

It seemed like every man and their dog was our walking around Lake Burley Griffin - mostly all abiding by the clockwise direction corvid rule. We stopped at the Memorial for the Indonesian Tsunami that occurred on Boxing Day in 2004. Unfortunately this cache was a DNF for us despite our combined efforts of cache hunting.

We skirted around Mt Pleasant collecting a few more caches only to arrive at the allocated cache for the trackable drop off to discover that the trackable wouldn't fit!! On ADFA ground the caches were hidden in cool places - one in a canon barrel and another one hidden amongst the holes in a piece of reinforced concrete that had bunkerfaust weapon fired into it! Eventually the trackable was dropped into a cache. We hope that it achieves its aim of visiting as many military sites across the world as possible.

As the sun was beginning to sink into the horizon, we rolled downhill to the last two caches both in trees! A fantastic afternoon out riding.

Getting Out

With a lack of organised activities the girls have resorted to a variety of activities and mostly with Andy.

Numerous roller blading expeditions. Both Aoife and Andy purchased a pair so they could join in on the fun.

The purchase of a silk hammock for the front tree filled in the gap of missing out on silks. The girls love to hang out on it!

Andy has been encouraging the girls to get out and about often under duress. He took them on short mountain bike rides...

Together with Aoife, they ventured out to Uriarra for a bit of slack lining across the river!!

Both girls surprised me by joining me on a short run. It was a glorious morning and we stopped by a cache  halfway through.

Around the House

A few snippets...

Katy cooked pancakes for us one morning and asked if I could grab a lemon off our tree. I returned with this interesting one....we suspect it may have been damaged in the hailstorm!!

Trying my.indoor bulb garden again this year...more hyacinths.

And a collection of pot plants to give a corner of the garden a bit of pizzazz.
