Good Friday

Deciding to pass up the opportunity to run on Good Friday meant a leisurely drive to Rylstone approximately 400km north of Canberra. There are two route choices for the drive - we chose the less straight-line one via Yass, Boorowa, Cowra and Bathurst. An easy drive with very little traffic. We made it to Bathurst in time for lunch as the cracks were appearing in the back seat! Found a little bakery nicely located opposite a park and after filing our stomach we were all happy once again.

Drove into Rylstone mid afternoon after a total of 4.5 hours of driving. Stopped on the main street only to run into the Walter/Jones family and so joined them for a much deserved coffee and ice cream. Then it was off to the show ground to set up camp.

A total of 8 families formed our tent city. Within a stones throw was a play ground, large grassy oval and rocky embankment which kept the 20 or so children entertained! The only thing missing from this perfect location was a campfire….which we were to soon discover that once the sun sets the temperature dropped rapidly so much so that all adults had retreated to their beds usually by 10pm!
