Prosser's Reef - Easter Day 2

Katy and Ella were pleased to see that the easter bunny had visited leaving a golden easter bunny for each of them in the tent pocket! With this excitement, everyone was soon up to face another chilly morning. Today's event utilised the same assembly area as yesterday with the maps overlapping. Andy and Jase were set to have a great tussle in M40s. They came  =4th yesterday completing the 6.9km course in the same time of 1.05.20!!

Meanwhile the just as important action took place on the string course where Aoife (and Cath) had embraced the day with the easter inspired theme! The course kept to the flatter ground on top of the ridge allowing the children to zoom around several times before collecting their prize….some more easter eggs!

After Andy finished his run, he set off to shadow Makhaya, Luca and Ella. Makhaya had a great run finishing the course without any difficulty. Ella and Luca enjoyed running around together with Andy not too far behind.

Once I was relieved of child minding duties, I headed out with Katy and Mira on the easy course. We started out well but Mira had a cold and listening to her breathing, I decided to cut a few corners.

With the grandies living it up in style once again, we were invited to visit their abodes for the now established (second year running?) tradition of an easter egg hunt. A total of 94 easter eggs were hidden  carefully by Grandpa Hogg. It took a while for the 13 grandchildren (from 6 families) to retrieve them and even then I'm not sure they all got collected!

By far the highlight of the Easter 3 Day carnival (and hopefully the start of a new tradition!) was the invitation from the Sherlock Family to partake in a spit roast dinner! There were a few tense moments when cooking wasn't quite going to plan, as the 7kg of pork and 3kg of beef weren't rotating properly. However Matt's orthopaedic surgeon skills kicked in - the marshmallow skewers became tools of the spit roast trade and life was good again! A few hours later 10 families (we estimated around 45 adults and children) gathered together bringing their offerings of snacks, salads and desserts to share in this feast. Easter 2014 will not be remembered from by the terrain, the winners or the mistakes but but he delicious dinner cooked up by the Sherlocks….Thanks Matt and Steph!!
