Around the place

Our veggie patch is growing very well since all the broad beans were harvested. Recent produce to make it on to our plate include rocket, rhubarb, snow peas and purple carrots!

Since deciding on our upcoming trip to Japan, we have been unfortunately inundated with a steady flow of outgoing unforeseen expenses. First was my tax bill - the results of miscalculation on behalf of my main employer. The second was Andy's recent knee surgery for a degenerative meniscal tear. More recently the dishwasher gave up the ghost after 13+yrs of hard work.

We dithered trying to determine which new dishwasher would fit the space and whether we could put the front panel on too. Eventually after discovering there weren't many on the market and even less actually available, we settled for a Miele. Our 'we can do this ourselves' attitude - all you need to do is connect the hose and plug it in nearly failed. Andy worked solidly for 1.5 days installing the dishwasher. The first hiccup was that the hole in the back of the cupboard wasn't big enough to fit the hose pipe through! Once that was made bigger, there was lots of fidgeting around with heights and levelling. All looked good once finished and works perfectly.
