After wandering through a few cabins, we found our allocated seats and settled in for the rest of the journey. Travelling twice the speed as the previous train, we pulled into Nimes station around 7.30pm. Now normally areas adjacent to the major train stations are not the greatest however in Nimes, this was not the case. Emerging from the station we were greeted to one of the nicest boulevards. A water feature constantly changing colour ran the length of the park with tall, old well preserved graffiti free building edging each side and it wasn't raining! Andy and I both had a good feeling about this place!

Escaping the Rain
We left Grenoble late Friday afternoon, glad to escape the rain and boarded the train bound for Nimes. This train was packed so with no reserved seating it was a free for all. We did find 3 seats together so Andy stood until a seat became free a short time later. The train chugged along and at one point seemed to grind to a halt for several minutes. We were worried as we rolled into Valence, 15 mins late, that we were going to miss our train thanks (we had a 14min connection.) However the inbound train was 5 mins late too, so rushing through the station following a hoard of others who were also rushing to for the same train, we were extremely glad the train was still on the platform and climbed aboard through the nearest door.
