Winter Wonderland

We've had an interesting summer - record temperatures, bushfires, blankets of smoke and now a massive hailstorm. I was at home when suddenly the heavens opened and golf size hail stones pummelled down. The storm was short but so intense. The garden turned into a winter wonderland. On closer inspection the garden was shredded and leaves littered the ground. It was like autumn had come but without the colour!

 

  

Luckily our house sustained minimal damaged - no broken skylights or windows. The car though was a different story. Unfortunately the car was parked in the driveway and once the hail started I wasn't going to risk moving it into the garage. On first inspection I thought that the car was fine as there were no broken windows, however later that afternoon in a different light we noticed most panels had multiple dents, the drivers wing mirror was broken as was a tail light and part of the bike roof rack had been snapped off. We lodged, like thousands of others, a claim to our insurance company.

Meanwhile in the lofty heights of Aranda, poor Cath and Eoin suffered considerable damage to their house. Hail and debris piled up near the front door blocking the drains. As a result the water streamed down their steep driveway had nowhere to go but through their front door and down their interior steps flooding Cath's office!!!
