Saturday in Oxford

At school this term, Ella is learning about The Great Outdoors with a focus on Oxford. Within random conversations (and without our prompting) she'd mention various iconic sites of Oxford - Pitt River Museum, Magdalen Bridge, Ashmolean (said with a very posh British accent), Bodleian Library just to name a few.  What's interesting is that we haven't visited any of them! So with a non travelling weekend planned, we thought perhaps we should take some time to explore Oxford!

Most of the morning was spent with the girls enjoying playing time in their pj's! Ella then attended Harry's 6th Birthday Party over lunch. We met up with Andy and a very excited Ella who was clutching a bag full of pirate treasures and lollies to catch the bus into town.

Our destination was the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology. Founded as Britain's first public museum in 1683, this impressive building houses it's Crossing Cultures Crossing Time collection over five floors. The girls elected to take the pamphlet which encouraged them to hunt all the Rabbits in the Ashmolean and hopefully allow us to browse without too much intervention! After tracking down all the bouncing bunnies, we finished our tour in the Coins Collection, where apart from admiring all the old coins, the girls designed their own.
