Party Preparations

Katy decided on a Back to Nature party to celebrate her 7th birthday. Luckily our slow decision worked in our favour. We scheduled the party for Monday 13th June, a public holiday, rather that the weekend before which saw the East coast get hammered with rain, winds and flooding!

The Back to Nature party evolved into a small (2km) point to point bush walk, with games and activities on the way followed by snags and cake at the final destination. Brainstorming began with ideas flowing....calico tote bags, nature journals, birdseed and seed packets as part of party bag.

And so we got busy!

The little calico over shoulder bags turned out to be simple with the longest part involving the cutting.

The bird seed cookie cutter hanging ornaments on the other hand needed several attempts before we perfected them. We found that the gelatine based ones kept falling apart so we did an anzac type baked recipe using flour, golden syrup and butter! Perfecto!
