Finally... Testing out the New Stuff

Andy was excited to finally test out his new skins with a back country adventure with Paul. They met at Pleasant Valley, a good spot with Paul coming from Smiggins and Andy from Guthega. At the top of Pleasant Valley, they left the resort boundaries to climb the Paralyser. From there is was downhill to the Illawong suspension bridge whose stairs were impressively buried under the snow. With skins on, it was a steady 80min climb to the top of Mt Twynam. The clouds rolled in at the top but were just as quickly blown away again to reveal the ice encrusted trig! The chilly wind meant not much time was spent at the top. Skins were packed away and a bite of lunch had. The downhill run was awesome but only lasted 12 mins before arriving back at the suspension bridge. Another ascent with the skins on up the Paralyser for the more 'optimal' route home - although in hindsight Andy says that it wasn't!!

Meanwhile back at the lodge it was a cruisy morning. Al and I had no desire to rush anyone out the door. By mid morning though we had all the kids deciding to join us for a ski. With all the Guthega lifts done, we ventured over to Blue Cow, just in time for lunch. Expecting that energy levels would pick up post food, we were surprised to hear that the girls all wanted to go back..... by themselves! A short while later, Al and Max headed off to Mt P while I ambled back to the lodge to find the girls safety back mucking around on their toboggans!
