SW Tour - Day 10

Today saw us back to Green's Pool - well actually to Elephant Rocks which is accessed from the same carpark but down a different path. From a lookout on the way, one can appreciate the beach below and Elephant Rocks - named after the shape of several rocks that appear to be elephant's behinds!!

The path descends from the lookout down a set of stairs to a narrow chasm between two large granite boulders. We negotiated the passage keeping our belongings dry before emerging onto a beautiful sheltered beach.

We were keen to explore this mostly shallow lagoon, swimming out through a channel and around the boulders. On the way back, Ella spied a good 'potential jumping from" granite boulder  and then spent time swimming around it trying to figure how to climb up. We all swam back to shore and watched her succeed and then wondered what she was going to do. A fellow tourist swam out with his goggles to explore the area below and indicated to her a safe place to jump. Next thing we know she leaps off! She was pumped!

After drying off, we made our way around the granite rocks back to Greens Pool. Ella and Andy donned their googles and went from a swim / snorkel. As they made their way back, Katy swam out to join in the jumping off the rock game again.....

Our next destination was Denmark Good Food Factory - time for coffee, chips and ice cream!! Unfortunately a bit early in the day to test out the local produce - Elephants Rock Cider or the Right Gin. Next time! Also time for another re creation photo!!

From the Food Factory we headed inland to the Valley of the Giants and the Tree Top Walk. The Tree Top Walk was constructed over 25 years ago in order to protect the giant tingle trees while allowing the ever increasing numbers tourists an opportunity to be immersed in this wonderful forest.

The Tree Top Walk is a 600m aerial walkway consisting of six lightweight bridge spanning seven pylons reaching up to height of 40m above the ground. The design of the walkway is based on the Tassel Flower and the Sword Grass. It is fully accessible and the last time we were here we took advantage of this as both girls were in the pram!! Today though the girls charged ahead!

Built at the same time as the Tree Top Walk, the Ancient empire is a boardwalk which meanders around (and sometimes actually through a tingle tree) a grove of veteran tingle trees (where quokkas reside!) some of which are up to 16m in circumference. Not loving photos being taken our girls and Andy put up with a quick snap inside the tingle tree. Again another moment to reminisce on old times and to reflect on how much our girls have grown!

With the tingle trees done, Andy was very keen to go for a run in this wonderful forest. Luckily the Bibbulmun Track passes through and Andy manage to do a short 5km loop. I also did a shorter out and back walk on the Bibbulmun Track too. The girls meanwhile hung out in the camper. Nice way to finish the day.
