Ella's Glow in the Dark 8th Birthday Party

We were all a little scarred from Ella's birthday last year held at the Himalayan Cedar forest in the National Arboretum in very wet and cold conditions. Don't get me wrong it was fun but very cold!  Brainstorming for birthday ideas began a few months out from the big day with the consideration that we had no idea what state the house would be in. However as Ella's birthday quickly approached and the tree approval held up the renovations, it was clear that our house could be used as a venue and so invites were sent out in the last week of term.

With trepidation the party was planned for the early part of the evening including dinner on the eve of Ella's birthday. Preparation began during the day - fluoro bunting made and hung, house cleaned, food made and cake decorated!

On arrival party guest immersed themselves in a little bit of craft by making a fluoro monster bookmark or doing a scratch picture while enjoying nibbles. A pasta/pizza dinner was next on the agenda before the real party started by cracking the glow sticks. Then on to glowstick musical bobs and statues, time elapsed glowstick photos (thanks for the tip Jonno and Cathy!) and finally glowstick ten pin bowling on the driveway. The evening was complete with birthday cake.

All in all I needn't have worried so much as it was an awesome night (apart form one glass bowl breakage). The 16 children all behaved beautifully with fun and laughter being the order of the night.
